The Challenge
Energy provision is undergoing a serious global transformation process. We define these changes as an opportunity and carve out tangible success, value creation and competitive advantages for our clients.
- Prognoses of the World Energy Council indicate that energy demand will double by 2050.
- Conventional energy sources (oil, gas, coal) will realize diminishing returns.
- Conventional energy sources have doubled in cost in the past two years, a trend which is certain to continue.
- Atmospheric CO2 levels have risen globally; considerable and far-reaching climate change is inexorable.
- In 2007, total global investments in clean energy stood at about € 100 billion - by 2030, this sum is expected to reach up to € 5 trillion.
- Many significant new firms have entered the market (e.g. REC, Q-Cells, First Solar, Enercon, Schmack) and many established companies have undertaken Cleantech investments totaling billions (e.g. Eon, RWE, Abengoa, GE, Siemens, Bosch)
- Governmental institutions have already started to realize the potential in the Cleantech industry: in Germany, this has created over 200,000 jobs and Abu Dhabi has embarked on the development of the Clean Tech City of Masdar.
